Our BIG Plans for Albany
We’re bringing the movement with us. Here is what we plan to get done.
-
A leader in the ongoing fight to keep MSBI open. Passed legislation requiring community input in any hospital closure.
-
Passed measures to safeguard our private health data from out-of-state law enforcement, to ensure no one is penalized for seeking an abortion in New York State.
-
Passed legislation through the Senate to tax non-essential helicopter and seaplane flights in Manhattan.
-
Supporting the SAFE Streets Act to lower speed limits, create a victim’s bill of rights, require three feet of space for cyclists, and other vital street safety measures.
Unveiled the Western Queens Street Safety Plan to help end traffic violence and death in Queens.
Passing Sammy’s Law and protecting our neighborhood from traffic violence in Greenpoint alongside activists for a safer McGuinness Boulevard.
-
As Chair of the Internet and Technology Committee, led the way on passing bills to keep deepfakes out of our elections, keep workers from losing their jobs to AI, and protect kids from addictive social media algorithms.
-
Leading the effort for Renewable Ravenswood and making sure our waterfronts can withstand increased flooding.
-
Stood up against corporate landlords to champion affordable and abundant housing, pushed to fully fund NYCHA, and won stronger tenant protections.
-
Pushed for expanded express bus service and G train service, including more trains and more cars on trains already running
Advocating for longer G trains and for less disruptive schedules for maintenance and upgrade work.
-
Working with partners at all levels of government to come up with environmentally just solutions to the major local issues our community faces: the BQE, Newtown Creek and more.
-
In state legislatures across the nation, trans and queer right are under attack, with Black, brown, and undocumented trans and queer people facing higher rates of violence and greater risks of losing their home or healthcare. These attacks overwhelmingly focus on youth and schools — queer youth who are already at a much greater risk of homelessness, suicide, and assault — but they are only the beginning of a larger attack on queer identities and bodily autonomy. Our political system is broken, with too many New Yorkers struggling to lead full, dignified lives without fear of getting sick, finding stable work, or losing their homes. But too often, our crumbling housing, carceral, education, and healthcare systems compound the oppression of trans, queer, and nonbinary people. In order to fully acheive queer liberation, we must directly address the attacks on queer and trans rights, along with ensuring our housing, healthcare, and education system are intersectional and provide dignity for all.

We know that community stability and well-being are the best ways to promote safety. States that invest in their social safety net (ex. Medicaid, education, public housing) have been proven to both improve health and decrease violence in their communities. My vision for building safe communities will rely on funding evidence-based violence prevention programs, and investing in historically disenfranchised communities, to root out the drivers of violence and plant the seeds of safety.
-
In her first term, brought back $9 million in funding for critical District 59 programming for NYCHA residents, gun violence prevention programs, legal service providers, schools, hospitals, and senior service centers like HANAC.
Help build our Movement!
Our representatives in Albany are putting the profits of millionaire landlords and power plant owners before our lives and our futures. That’s why our campaign rejects all corporate and fossil fuel donations.
We’re powered by small donors like you because we believe that’s who our electeds should be accountable to.
Join Our Movement
We're building a different kind of campaign, one led by hundreds of volunteers as part of a larger democratic socialist movement. Sign up to help us knock on our neighbors’ doors, hang up posters on your block, call voters, and get out every single vote on June 25th.
